Biography:

Swati Chopra is a communication design practitioner, educator, and researcher with interests in the areas of typography, data visualization, brand identity, package design, editorial design, and human-centered design. Swati has over 10 years of professional design experience during which time she has designed products for a wide range of clients from start-ups such as GuestBox to multinational corporations such as Johnson and Johnson and Boeing. Prior to her appointment at the Mount, Swati worked as an instructor at the University of Cincinnati (for DAAP and Digital Media collaborative). She simultaneously worked for the Johnson and Johnson company as a designer for their Medical Devices instructional design team.

Swati completed her B.F.A. in Graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and was a Yates Scholar at the University of Cincinnati (UC), where she completed her Master’s in Design (MDes). Her graduate degree thesis - “Managing uncertainty: Self-care tools for enhancing student learning experiences in the design disciplines” – won the ‘DAAP Cares’ award. During her graduate studies at UC she worked with the AntiOD project which aims to enhance public access to anti-overdose medication so as to save lives in case of emergencies. The project was a finalist in the Health and Wellness category of the 2019 World-Changing Ideas Awards.

Swati has multiple noteworthy projects where she has worked with Boeing Aviation company, Jack Rouse Associates and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. As part of her work Swati has published research papers and her designs have been granted 6 patents.
