Biography:

Dr. Rasmussen is an associate professor in the Department of Biology. He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University and completed his postdoctoral training at the Yale University School of Medicine. Professor Rasmussen also earned a B.S. in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University. His research interests include host-pathogen interaction utilizing the Drosophila model system, specifically innate immune response and stem cell division upon microbial infection. He also has research interests concerning the use of wild yeasts for beer fermentation.

When Dr. Rasmussen is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and son. His hobbies include home brewing, photography, home improvement.
