Biography:
Colleen McSwiggin recently returned to the Mount in as the Coordinator for Mission and Belonging after a three-year absence while she was the Executive Director of the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub, a local nonprofit that she co-founded. She was previously at the Mount for 11 years, most recently as the Chemistry Lab Manager and Chair of the Sustainability Committee.
For her previous sustainability work at Mount St. Joseph University and in the community, she was awarded the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award by the Sisters of Charity and the Teacher Environmental Award by the Greater Cincinnati Earth Coalition in 2019. She earned her B.A. in Microbiology from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1993 and worked at Procter & Gamble and in other labs over the years, when she wasn’t taking time off from work to raise her two sons. She currently lives in Green Township with her husband, Mike, and their older son, Joe, who has special needs, while her younger son, Jack, is away at college in Florida.
She enjoys reading, watching movies, working on her family tree, singing with the Adult Performance Group at School of Rock, and traveling. She has a multi-page “bucket list” she’s slowly working through, and she’s most happy to have already crossed off “Go to Ireland”, “Go to Egypt”, “See a total solar eclipse”, and “Be on Jeopardy!” (she’s a 1-time Jeopardy! champion!).
