Biography:
Sculptor Tom Tsuchiya
Tom Tsuchiya is best known for his public art including the plaques for the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, the sculptures of Reds players at Great American Ball Park.
Because of his passion for our environment, Tsuchiya has been immersed in creating sustainability-themed sculptures including the award-winning Atlas Recycled. As an advocate for STEAM, Tsuchiya created a new version of Atlas at Imperial College, London in 2016 with the assistance of science students from around the world.
Tsuchiya is a Cincinnati native whose parents are from Japan. In 2023, he celebrated his heritage by exhibiting a sculpture of the three wise monkeys at Music Hall during the performances of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.
He is a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Cincinnati (A & S ’95) and an apprentice of noted artist Carin Hebenstreit.
