Biography:

Patsy Schwaiger is a 1973 graduate from the College of Mount St. Joseph-on-the-Ohio.  Counseling is Patsy’s second career, returning to the Mount in 1994, first as an academic advisor and then as a counseling intern in the Wellness Center. She received her M.Ed. in Community and School Counseling from Xavier University in 1995, and earned independent licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory status in the State of Ohio in 1999. Patsy has served the Mount community as a mental health provider since 1995. In addition, she served as the Director of the Wellness Center from 2007 to 2023.

As a clinician, Patsy is a skilled clinician offering affirmative and person-centered care to her student clients.  She uses interventions from ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) to help students navigate their college experience and promotes Mindfulness as an important transformative practice.  Patsy is certified as a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper trainer and trains faculty and staff as Allies for the LGBTQIA+ student population.

Outside of work, Patsy is an active Associate in Mission with the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati and embraces the mission and charism of Elizabeth Seton in her daily work with colleagues and students. She cares for her own emotional and physical self by walking, hiking, knitting and takes every opportunity to be with her five grandchildren.
