Magical Realism

Come watch a series of loosely connected tales about love, each with a compelling couple at its center, each with its own touch of magic.

Mount St. Joseph University presents magical realism play, “Almost, Maine” from March 31 to April 3, 2022 in the Recital Hall. Tickets are free, but must be reserved ahead of time.

Magical realism is a combination of realistic fiction with magical moments weaved into it, and the production provides a series of thought-provoking tales with magic at their core where relationships end, begin, or change beyond recognition.

“To me ‘Almost, Maine’ showcases the importance of the relationships in our life, and is a great example of magical realism,” says Richard Buchanan, Director of Theatre Arts at the Mount. “Nine interconnected scenes happen simultaneously at the same moment in time and the audience gets to witness how all these different characters experienced that same moment. Each scene has its own profound moment of magic, I invite you to be on the lookout for them!”
