On June 10, 2024, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) named 228 colleges and universities to its 2024 Transfer Honor Roll in recognition of the dynamic pathways they have created to support transfer students.

The Mount was recognized for its exemplary service and accessible pathways to its transfer population.

Consisting of over 3 million members with chapters across ten countries, Phi Theta Kappa is a premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Transfer Honor Roll is determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life for transfer, admission practices, and bachelor’s degree completion.

“The goal of most students attending community college is earning a bachelor’s degree, but few do because of financial barriers and the complexity of the transfer process,” says Dr. Lynn Tincher Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “We are proud to recognize the exceptional colleges and universities that go above and beyond to create accessible pathways to bachelor’s degree completion for community college transfer students.”

The Transfer Honor Roll was based on an analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse, and on data submitted through the Mount’s profile on PTK Connect, Phi Theta Kappa’s online tool designed to help students find their best-fit colleges and career pathways.

This year’s winners had exceptional outcomes, and several of these included:

  • Average percent of transfer in undergraduate population – 37%
  • Average bachelor’s degree completion rate among transfers – 77%
  • Average credit transferred toward a degree major and/or plan – 82%
  • Average percent of transfer students receiving merit-based financial aid – 67%

”It is great news that Mount St. Joseph University was named again as a recipient of the 2024 Transfer Honor Roll,” says Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission, Amy Wolf. “At the Mount, our goal is to make sure every transfer student feels understood and valued from the moment they engage with us. Our Admission team and advisors are readily available to meet one-on-one with students in order to communicate resources, opportunities, and individual transfer credit completion plans and pathways. We recognize that transfer students come with their own unique situations and our staff is here to help align how the Mount might complement a student’s continued growth toward their academic and career goals.”

The University extends their thanks to Phi Theta Kappa for this recognition, as well as a congratulations to the other 228 institutions who put in the same level of academic and professional support to transfer students.
