Join us in restoring Mater Dei Chapel

Mater Dei Chapel is the centerpiece of campus, with the iconic Corona Tower and its three bells visible from points across the grounds of Mount St. Joseph University. The chapel serves as the spiritual and communal heart of the University. Students begin and conclude their undergraduate careers at the chapel candle-lighting ceremonies. Within the chapel walls, nursing students hold their pinning ceremonies. In addition, medical field grads have their white coat ceremonies at the chapel, education students have their commissioning at this revered location, and since it was consecrated in 1962, Mater Dei Chapel has hosted more than 450 weddings of students, alumni, faculty, and staff!

From 2019 to 2024 the Mount installed new pews, updated kneelers, restored the floor, installed new sound and livestreaming systems, and restored tile mosaics depicting the Stations of the Cross. A portion of each rental fee for Mater Dei Chapel goes to the restoration fund for the Chapel.

Future updates include: restoration of Mater Dei Chapel’s iconic stained glass windows, lighting, acoustic ceiling, and a new organ—as well as adding accessibility features. With your gift, you can be a part of history and help light the way for future generations.
